NIFTY50 Stocks list consists of 50 stocks of top 50 companies in India in terms of Market capitalization. These stocks are updated regularly based on the change in the market capitalization of the companies.
Nifty50 in short represents the valuation of the Stock market of India theoretically. As it includes the stocks of top 50 companies of India, it is supposed to represent the broad economy of the country. Like if the nifty is increasing then it is theoretically represented that the companies value is growing and hence the economy is growing.

The method of calculating the value of index is different for different stock exchanges and also it might be different for different indices.

The table also represents the weightage that is given to each company stock in the final calculation of the value of the index. The company with maximum weightage will affect the index value mostly with its movement.
