Registrar is an independent body hired by the company which is going public for the purpose of going public. They are the financial institutions registered with SEBI and also the prime processing body for IPO’s.

Responsibility of a registrar for an IPO mainly involves the processing of IPO applications, allocate shares to applicants based on SEBI guidelines, process refunds through ECS or cheque and transfer allocated shares to investors Demat accounts.
