Over Subscription in IPO

During the IPO process, when the Company receives a subscription for more than the number of shares it is offering then it is called an Oversubscribed Initial Public offering. This happens when a more popular company is issuing shares and there is a lot of interest from the investor’s community to get the shares at the IPO price.
